Carina Rubaja, Teaching Artist
Carina Rubaja, a native of Argentina, is a seasoned creative movement teaching artist who has worked in Newark and NYC since 1998 for several renowned cultural organizations, including LEAP, Music for Many, and Dancewave. She specializes in in-school and after-school residencies for students (ages 3-9) of all abilities, often partnering with classroom teachers. She has conducted family workshops to support literacy, stress management, and community building in schools and libraries. Ms. Rubaja is a dedicated Arts Integration Coach for preschool and elementary school educators in NYC and Newark, representing the 92Y (as a NYCDOE vendor) and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Her work includes developing resources for educators, such as grants, teacher resource guides, and bilingual (Spanish/English) videos. Notably, she authored the K-2 curriculum for the 92Y DEL (Dance Education Laboratory) Literacy Project (2024, 2025), which has been implemented by NYC dance teachers, and has participated in NYCDOE dance pilots for MLL learners. She also served as a mentor for the NJPAC/Rutgers University-Newark Teaching Artists Certificate Program in July 2025. Ms. Rubaja holds a Master's in Education from Lesley College (1992) and completed her creative movement teacher training in Argentina (1988). She continues to build her expertise through extensive professional development.
