Roslyn Biskin

Senior Associate, has been an arts-in-education consultant, dance educator, choreographer, director and stage manager for over 20 years. Her professional affiliations include the Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera Company, Pittsburgh Opera, Washington Opera, NYC Opera National Company, The Center for Arts Education (NY), The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable, the Education Departments of NYC Opera and NYC Ballet, as well as the NYC Department of Education.  Roslyn received a New York Foundation for the Arts TAP grant to participate in the “Arts Assessment in Practice” workshop series, and was awarded an Independent Artist’s Challenge Grant by The Field.  Through her work with Together in Dance, she designs and facilitates workshops for educators, administrators, artists, families and students in order to deepen their experiences with creativity through movement. Roslyn continues her work in early childhood education as a consultant and music/movement specialist for preschool programs across NYC and NY State.  She received her B.A. from the Gallatin School of New York University. 

 

Karen Curlee

After performing on Broadway for 20 years in such shows as CATS, A Chorus Line, Me and My Girl, and Showboat, Karen Curlee, Senior Associate, has returned to her roots as an educator.  She has been an arts-in-education consultant and dance and theater educator for the last 7 years. Prior to coming to NYC, Karen taught high school English, performing arts, as well as dance workshops in dance studios and at dance conventions. She moved to NY and was fortunate to work in Broadway shows consistently while continuing to teach as a guest artist in various universities and studios. In addition to Together in Dance, Karen has associations with The Bronx Arts Ensemble, City Center , Young Audiences NY, as well as for NYC Dept.of Education, Michigan State University, and Dover Dept.of Education. She works consistently with the Center for Arts Education in NYC on their Parents as Arts Partners program. She received her B.A. from Francisco State University and her M. A. from NYU.

 

Margot Faught

Senior Associate, has worked extensively as a dance educator, arts project consultant/coordinator, and choreographer in many areas of the country for over 25 years. Her consulting work and teaching affiliations include The Kennedy Center, The Center for Arts Education (NYC), NYC Arts in Education Roundtable, City Center , City Opera, NYC Dept. of Ed., ArtsConnection, VSA Arts (National, Indiana, Wisconsin), Young Audiences (San Jose, Indiana), Destine Dance Foundation, Indiana University, Purdue University, Michigan State University, Eastern New Mexico University, Central Conn. State University, Joetsu University (Japan), Gerry Morel Balletschool (Boxtel, The Netherlands), Indiana Dept.of Education, Indiana Arts Commission, San Jose Museum of Art, National Dance Association, National Dance Education Organization, and daCi (dance and the Child international). In 2004, Margot received the Association of Teaching Artists' Distinguished Service to the Arts in Education Field Award. She received her B.S. and M.S. from Indiana University.

 

Jannas Zalesky

President, has been at the forefront of the dance education movement for more than 40 years. As a performer, instructor, educator and administrator, Ms. Zalesky has operated her own dance school, served as the Supervisor of Cultural Arts in Georgia, directed the education department of City Center, implemented Kids on the Move , a US Dept. of Education grant, received a Fulbright scholarship - lecturing across New Zealand as part of their Master Class series, acted as a consultant to the NYC Dept. of Education, and spearheaded a NEA -- Arts Plus initiative. She created and managed the Dunham Institutes and serves on several boards including the NYS Alliance for Arts Education, and is the chair of the USA chapter of daCi (dance and the Child international). As an innovator in the field, Ms. Zalesky's contributions to dance education are recognized worldwide.
