Residencies

Together in Dance provides in school residencies in creative movement and musical theater, and are designed to meet the needs of specific sites and teachers.  Before planning workshops with the teaching artist, we will meet with administrators to help establish a plan that will most greatly benefit the teachers and students in the school community.Residencies are ALWAYS accompanied by professional development training, to ensure that teachers have the knowledge and tools needed to extend the work into other areas of the curriculum.  All of our work is in alignment with the New York State Learning Standards in the Arts, as well as the New York City Blueprint for Learning in the Arts: Dance.

Our residency programs engage children in:

• basic knowledge of dance/movement concepts and vocabulary
• creative process through dance making
• problem solving activities
• analysis and response to their own artwork
• collaborative group work

In addition, we:

• Give educators tools to extend and connect lessons into their classroom curriculum
